Two ways to run it.

Open the desktop app, or spin up a headless server on any machine — over SSH, on a homelab box, anywhere. Either way, you pair your phone by scanning a QR.

Headless server

npx harbordex serve

No GUI needed — runs over SSH or on a remote box. Prints a pairing token, URL & QR code to scan from Harbordex Mobile.

Both paths pair the same way — scan the QR, or paste the pairing URL (or host + token) into the app.

What is Harbordex?

You pair once by scanning a QR code. On your local network or a Tailscale tailnet the connection is direct between your devices — traffic isn’t proxied through Harbordex’s servers. Every paired device is an authorized client you can revoke anytime.

Can I run it on a remote or headless machine?

Yes. Run npx harbordex serve to start a headless server over SSH or on a remote box. It prints a pairing token, URL, and QR code to scan from the mobile app or paste into the desktop app.

How much does it cost?

Harbordex is open source and free to run. You bring your own AI subscription, so there’s no per-seat AI markup to worry about.
